Job description:
We are partnering with a large public sector organisation based in Birmingham City Centre to recruit a skilled 2nd Line Support / Rollout Engineer for an immediate start. This role offers the opportunity to support critical IT operations and lead key technical rollout projects.
You will work fully on-site (Monday–Friday), providing advanced technical support, coordinating rollout initiatives, and ensuring smooth, secure IT operations across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver 2nd line technical support to end users, resolving escalated issues promptly and professionally.
Install, configure, and deploy hardware, software, and peripheral devices in line with rollout plans.
Support large-scale Windows 10/11 and Office 365 deployments, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
Manage Active Directory administration, including user accounts, permissions, and group policies.
Diagnose and troubleshoot network connectivity issues, printing faults, and application errors.
Provide remote and desk-side support, maintaining excellent communication with users.
Liaise with 3rd line teams and external suppliers to escalate complex technical incidents.
Ensure compliance with IT security policies, data protection standards, and patch management.
Maintain accurate documentation and asset records throughout rollout and support activities.
Contribute to continuous improvement of IT processes and knowledge base articles.
Key Skills & Experience:
Proven experience in a 2nd Line Support or Desktop Rollout Engineer role (public sector experience desirable).
Strong working knowledge of:
Windows 10/11 and Office 365 environments
Active Directory, Group Policy, and Exchange/Outlook
Network fundamentals (LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, VPNs)
Imaging, deployment, and asset management tools (e.g., SCCM, Intune, MDT)
Experience with hardware rollout projects, including desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive, service-oriented mindset.
Strong communication skills with the ability to support users at all levels.
Relevant certifications such as CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Microsoft MCSA / ITIL Foundation preferred.
