A prestigious company in the fintech sector has an exciting opportunity for a Hybrid Senior Linux Systems Engineer to join its growing infrastructure team.
This role is ideal for a highly skilled engineer with extensive experience managing complex enterprise environments and a passion for automation, scalability, and system reliability. You’ll play a key part in maintaining and enhancing a secure, high-availability Linux estate that underpins critical financial systems used across the business.
Key Responsibilities:
Administer, configure, and maintain enterprise-scale Linux environments, primarily Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
Manage Red Hat Satellite, Identity Management (IdM), and other associated infrastructure services.
Support and maintain mixed infrastructure environments (Linux and Windows) integrated with Active Directory.
Develop and maintain Bash scripts to automate system configuration, deployment, and monitoring tasks.
Ensure system security, patching, and compliance in alignment with company and industry standards.
Contribute to infrastructure design, capacity planning, and system performance optimisation.
Work collaboratively with DevOps, Networking, and Security teams to enhance platform stability and scalability.
Support VDI (Virtual Desktop Infrastructure) deployments, ensuring high performance and seamless user experience.
Implement and manage backup, monitoring, and alerting systems to ensure business continuity.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide 3rd-line technical support for critical issues.
Skills & Experience Required:
Strong hands-on experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems administration.
Deep understanding of Red Hat Satellite, IdM, and related management tools.
Good knowledge of Active Directory integration and cross-platform infrastructure management (Windows & Linux).
Strong Bash scripting and automation experience (Python or Ansible a plus).
Experience deploying, maintaining, and supporting VDI environments (e.g. VMware Horizon or Citrix).
Solid background in networking, storage, and virtualisation technologies (VMware, KVM, etc.).
Proven ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure issues in enterprise environments.
Knowledge of security hardening, patch management, and monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, etc.).
Exposure to cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP) is highly advantageous.
Excellent communication skills with a proactive and collaborative working style.
